The Drum Kit/Drum Set
WHAT IS IT?

The drum kit or drum set (which we will now refer to as the "drum kit") consists of different drums to form the whole set. Below are the important things to learn when talking about the drum kit/set:

The stands that hold the drums and cymbals (as well as the stool) are generally called the hardware of the drum kit;

A standard drum kit may be made up of a bass drum, snare drum, three(3) tom toms (or toms for short), hi hats, crash cymbal and ride cymbal. This is called a five piece drum kit - which refers to the number of actual drums in the set (we don't count cymbals/hardware)
